Program Overview

The role of the Emergency Medical Technician has remained a mainstay of the emergency medical team and is a common prerequisite for those looking for employment in police departments and fire brigades. Stone Academy’s 240-hour course of study exceeds the minimum number of hours required to train EMT’s in the State of Connecticut in an effort to ensure that graduates serving in the field are of the highest caliber in the industry.

Students will receive didactic and hands-on instruction to provide them with the theoretical and clinical knowledge necessary to excel as an EMT. Foundational instruction in the areas of medical law and ethics, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and lifespan development are covered at the commencement of the program before to progressing to the mastering of advanced skills. Clinical skills will be developed through a utilization of simulated experiences. The pairing of skills with traumatic situations will provide a real-world context that will better enable graduates to become immediately effective in the field. These simulations will allow for students to demonstrate their ability to assess patients, obtain and record vitals, administer oxygen, and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation along with a number of additional competencies.

Student’s success in the program will be determined through their ability to retain knowledge of the core topics surrounding the practice of an Emergency Medical Technician as well as their ability to perform related clinical skills at a high level.
